Privacy Policy

The privacy of your personal information is very important to Teachers Insurance Services (a joint initiative of Nadic Administration Pty Ltd and Teachers Federation Health Ltd).

This Privacy Policy details the type of personal information we collect, the purposes for which it is used, how it is managed and to whom we disclose it.

What is personal information?

Personal information includes information that can be used to identify you - e.g. name, address, telephone number, age and previous and current insurance policies.

Your personal information is protected under the Privacy Act. The aim of the Act is to ensure that private organisations that hold personal information about people, handle that information responsibly. It also gives you some control over the way information about you is handled. For example, it gives you the right to know what personal information we hold about you and a right to have that information corrected if it is wrong.

How do we collect your personal information?

Teachers Insurance Services collects personal information from you that is relevant to offering and providing insurance products and services.

We will usually collect this information directly from you. However, in some circumstances we may collect personal information from other sources – e.g. Teachers Federation Health might give us some information in order to offer insurance products and services to you.

We will only collect personal information with your consent, or otherwise in accordance with the Privacy Act. Your consent may be expressed, or implied – e.g. when you have been informed verbally we will be collecting and/or using personal information.

We may also collect personal information about someone else, from you. For example, you may wish to purchase insurance in joint names or for family members and you tell us information about these people. If this happens, you must tell that other person that you have or will provide information about them to us. If they do not consent, you must tell us.

If you use this website to correspond with us or we email you to offer insurance products and services the Online Privacy and Use of Cookies sections below will also apply.

How do we use your personal information and who do we give it to?

We use personal information to offer insurance products and services, unless you tell us you don’t want us to contact you. We also use that information to provide associated services such as insurance broking and advisory services and support with insurance claims.

When we or one of our product partners is deciding whether to offer you a particular product or service, we or they may engage an external third party to ‘profile’ your personal information to decide whether the product or service is likely to be of interest to you. We and they do this to try to eliminate you from any product campaigns for which you may not be eligible. We don’t want to waste your time by sending you information about products that you can’t purchase.

Some times the personal information we have will be disclosed to an insurer or other parties which are involved with providing insurance products or services – e.g. claims assessors and investigators. These are services that are connected to an offer of an insurance product or will assist you if hold an insurance product from one of our product partners. This also helps us to service you insurance needs better.

We will also disclose your personal information where the disclosure is permitted or required by law. As an example, we may disclose information to government agencies.

Any third parties we provide information to are only permitted to use or disclose personal information provided to them for the specific purpose for which it was provided by you.

We may collect some personal information about you when you access this website or use email to correspond with us.

If elect to take this option, you will not receive any further emails from us about our products and services.
